Happy 1 Month Birthday Ray, Charlie & Evan!

I can hardly believe our boys are one month old today!  Looking back on their earlier pictures it's a difference of night and day with how much they have grown.  We got great reports from Dr. Kasey's office yesterday when we went in to do our weight check - Ray is now 6lb, 8.5oz, Charlie is 6lb, 3.5oz & Evan is 6lb, 5.5oz.  Growing like weeds.  Charlie has definitely changed the most and is working hard to catch up to his brothers!!

This week also marked a huge milestone in our sons' lives as we celebrated their bris on Monday December 26th.  We were fortunate to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family who came to be with us.  It was also a first for Rabbi Asa, the mohel who performed the circumsion, as he had never done a triple bris before.  I think it was a first for the attendees as well!  The boys did awesome and it will be remembered as a happy day by all of us.  Thank you to Rabbi Adam Singer & Amanda Lebiszczak who took some amazing photos for us!

Home Sweet Home!!!

We were elated to find out that the doctor's prediction was correct and after only 12 short days in the hospital our sweet boys were able to come home with us.  Although we were nervous for how we would settle into this new reality - it has been a wonderful week so far being able to have our boys at home with us instead of driving to the hospital and signing into a unit to do so.

So here are a few shots from the week that has been.  Really, it is not different from most of you who have one child - just in triplicate.  We had the same surreal experience of driving away from the hospital -- we just looked more absurd doing so with the 3 car seats in the mini-van.

When we "finally" were home we got the chance to take a picture with all three together.  Since Evan was in a different pod from Charlie & Ray at the hospital and they were hooked up to monitors, we hadn't been able to do that so far.  If I do say so myself - it did make for a pretty nice photo-op.

This week, we've had many small firsts.  Not the least has been adjusting to the nighttime feedings at 2 and 5 AM.  I hope we can continue to keep up our sense of humor as not having contiguous sleep can definitely wear on you after a few days!  Enjoy the pictures below.  I would write a wittier post but the pictures say it all better than I could!

"Baby" Steps

I am cautiously optimistic that we are getting close to Ray, Charlie & Evan coming home.  Yesterday, Ray & Charlie moved into their "big boy" beds - which in their unit is code for open bassinets.  One of the key milestones for coming home is for the baby to maintain his temperature.  We take their temps at every feeding so the nurses can keep a close eye on it.  Keep your fingers crossed that they keep it up!  And if you're wondering about Evan, he's been in a big boy bed since the beginning.

And there have been milestones for me and Josh too!  The other night we gave Ray his first swaddle bath.  We didn't have to worry about doing a sponge bath because his cord is already off.  Ray may have the most "Reeves" in him as he was very laid back and calm the entire time - much like his Daddy (and his Pop).

Lastly - after all of the research and good intentions - the car seats we bought just don't fit right!  Even though Ray was actually able to sit up for 90 minutes in this carseat, which is great, we couldn't move past the fact that fit was slightly off..  Luckily, we had made new friends with a couple who have preemie twins in the same unit as our guys.  This couple had made a similar mistake and had bought new carseats that fit their little ones correctly.  And since their carseat was already in the unit - we were able to try it out!   We tested out Evan and Charlie in these new carseats - and they fit great (even though the boys look so tiny!) and the nurse was very confident Ray would fit it in too.  Josh and I then proceeded to Wal-Mart to clean out their supply.  We must have looked like quite the spectacle!

So everyone please keep your fingers crossed that Ray, Charlie & Evan keep up the good work!!

1 Week birthday!

It's hard to believe it's been a week since Ray, Charlie & Evan were born.  Now that they are here - we really can't imagine our lives without them in it.

It's also amazing how much they've changed in such a short period of time.  In addition, they are all developing their personalities -- Ray the relaxed one, Charlie the concerned one, and Evan the "party animal".  It will be so much fun to see how their personalities continue to develop.

Tonight was also a "weigh in" and we received great news.  Ray is right at his birthweight @ 4lb, 6.9oz (born at 4lb, 7oz), Charlie is over his birthweight @ 3lb, 13oz (born at 3lb, 12oz), and Evan is also his birthweight @ 4lb, 4.46oz).  Their wonderful Aunt and pediatrician, Dr. Kasey Berman was thrilled to hear this report.
